Gender-based harassment and sexual harassment in Estonian higher education
Dear student,
The Federation of Estonian Student Unions kindly asks you to participate in our study. The purpose of the study is to describe the situations of gender-based harassment and sexual harassment in Estonian higher education institutions in the context of power relations between student and lecturer and between students as well.
We kindly ask you to fill in our online survey, in which some questions are of a general nature, while others are concerned with your own personal experience with gender-based harassment and/or sexual harassment in higher education institutions. Your answers are anonymous and confidential. The answers cannot be associated with a specific person based on the inquired data. The answers will be retained in the Federation of Estonian Student Unions database for up to two years and only the members of the research team have access to the database.
You can start filling in the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/EYLakEN
It takes about 20 minutes to fill in the survey.
The participants of the survey have the opportunity to take part in a prize drawing for a gift card. The draw includes two 50 € Tartu New Theatre gift tickets, two invitations to the performances of the next season in Paide Theatre and three 100 € Partner gift certificates. If you would like to enter the prize drawing, you can leave your contact details on a separate webpage after filling in the survey. This allows us to ensure the anonymity of your answers.
Gender-based harassment and sexual harassment negatively affect the victims of harassment and interfere with equal access to education and the labour market. Educational and research institutions have an obligation to promote gender equality and prevent unequal treatment. The study gives us an overview of the current situation, allowing us to formulate recommendations for higher education institutions on how to prevent potential incidents of harassment.
The results will be presented in a generalised form and only in groups (based on age, gender, field or level of education) that had more than five respondents. We will publish the results at the beginning of 2020.
Should you have any questions about the survey, please contact the head of the study Ehti Järv (ehti.jarv@gmail.com, 5804 7706).
